KOBE FOR MVP.

49 points AND 10 assists!! He made great plays for his teammates and last night's amazing game proved that Kobe is the worthy MVP of 2008. I don't think I've ever seen Kobe play with this much passion with his teammates since 2002. I love it. Last night's game is proof why Kobe is and will always be my favorite basketball player.

I like how the subtitle of this blog includes "Intelligent NBA Commentary". Right... its so intelligent to make blow job jokes. Nothing but class!

Seriously, Chris Paul is the MVP. You can't take the swing by Boston exactly as it is because they added Garnett AND Allen. The Hornets improved by more than the Lakers, who added Gasol and who had a young center improve dramatically over the summer, when Kobe was bitching about wanting a new team. Yeah, I'm sure that it was completely thanks to Kobe's help that Bynum improved so much. Plus, they got Fisher back. Yes, New Orleans also had much improved players, including Paul himself, which is why you can't really measure the impact of a single player in a team's turnaround.

Regardless of standings or game turnarounds, Paul has INSANE numbers this year. He is the first player in NBA history to lead the league in assists and steals while averaging 20+ points a game. Kobe beats Paul in points, rebounds and blocks, and Paul beats Kobe in every other category (all %'s, assist, steals, turnovers). But considering Kobe has a good 6 inches on Paul, its not surprising that he would have more rebounds and blocks.

Chris Paul is also the first player to average 11+ assists with under 2.6 turnovers in the history of the NBA. Again, this is the ENTIRE HISTORY of the league.

Yeah, statistics are not the only factor (if they were, Lebron would win), but these numbers are insane. The fact that Kobe hasn't won before shouldn't have anything to do with it because the MVP is about the current season, not the past. Nothing should be taken into account beyond the season in question, so the excuse that Paul is young and has plenty of time to win it again is also bullshit.

By the way, Paul's stats of 35 and 17 in game 2 are pretty damn impressive. You can't deny that this guy is MVP material.

OMG! Kobe dropped 49 in the first round against an 8 seed! Kobe 4 MVP! I think I just came!

why break from a system if he believe it's the best system for easy offense? He makes excellent in game adjustments and like Craig said, his teams almost never commit dumb mental errors during important playoff games and his teams are generally only beaten by teams with superior talent and mental fortitude (think pistons
