No, not THAT Eddie Johnson the child molester, but Eddie Johnson the sharp shooter from the 1996-97 Houston Rockets.
According to J.A. Adande at ESPN:
Reggie Miller says he is contemplating a return to the NBA, this time with the Boston Celtics.
Celtics general manager Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers asked him to think about joining their revamped team in a reserve role, playing about 15 minutes per game.
Miller said he is calling friends and peers, seeking their advice and listening to their feedback before he makes his decision. He still plays recreationally, but must determine if he wants to go through the physical and mental grind of an 82-game season. He also wonders how his body would respond to the intensive training it would take to get him back to NBA shape.
With the Celtics gutting their roster to get Allen and Garnett, I kinda understand the need for quality bodies. But does Reggie have anything left in the tank? Will he be willing to accept coming off the bench playing sparse minutes?
Anyway, I think the Celtics are taking the whole 1996-97 Houston Rockets thing a little too far. Back in 1997, the Rockets, who were gutted from the Charles Barkley trade, acquired Eddie Johnson in mid-season. Johnson turned into a key contributor peaking in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals when he hit a buzzer beater against Utah. So the real question, who's gonna be Matt Maloney?
Don't do it Ainge! There's such a thing as too many cooks.

This has causes that reach back to the days when the nation was born and the ensuing power struggles between Italy, Germany and Britain. Sadly we have often made poor decisions when deciding with whom to ally.
