When I first heard that Adidas was the official sponsor for all NBA gear, I was hoping that they would release some special edition shoe for a few teams. Well, on December 1st, they took it to the next level and officially released the NBA Adidas Superstar sneaker for all 30 teams. Described on the NBA Store website as "30 Teams, 30 Shoes, 30 Stories" the shoes are hyped in the press release:
The footwear package includes 30 sneakers -- one for each team in the NBA -- with official NBA branding, team colors and logos featured prominently on adidas' most iconic lifestyle silhouette: the Superstar. The adidas Originals NBA Superstars are the first ever sneaker range to feature all 30 teams in the NBA alongside the official NBA logo.
The 30 team shoes are divided into six distinct material stories: Suede/Patent, Reflective, Reptile, Team Logo, Clear Stripes and Emboss, each with a suggested retail price of $100. Distribution will be limited to one exclusive retail partner per NBA market for the month of December, with additional doors added nationwide and internationally in January 2007. New York City will have a total of seven retailers for the December 1st launch, one in each borough plus the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue and adidas Originals in Soho. Beginning December 8th the shoes will also be available online at www.shopadidas.com and NBAstore.com.
Translation: there's a shoe for each team (including Memphis!) and they're really really neat!
So I checked the NBA Store link... at first glance these kicks are terrible! Some of them have these huge logos on the side that look like the cheezy Reebok shoes last year.
Then I saw that pickyourshoes.com had a page for them and I got a closer look at the shoes. A few of them started growing on me, like the Sonics and Wizards. Yet at $100 a pair, I'll probably stick to one pair. Right now I'm favoring the Toronto Raptors, they have a clean look to them.
the raptors shoes have a clean look ... like their win column !

Hmm... what's with all this shoe talk? Are you guys sponsered by footlocker or some shit? Why not talk about Iverson's inevitable delt or something meaningful.

The Adidas shoe company along with RUN-DMC were major influences during the early years of the basketball and hip-hop culture fusion (The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America, 1984-Present). Michael Jordan was a fan of Adidas when he was in college. Nike made him a fan when they signed him to a 5-year 2.5 million dollar sneaker deal in 1984.

Nice kicks, hard to believe that back in 69 when these came out they were actually basketball shoes..the Superstars rock as casual sneakers. Hopefully they'll do it again, feature the NBA teams all over.
