Chris Wilcox is a beast!
At least that's how I felt after watching the guy dominate the Lakers on Sunday. He was quicker, more athletic and more aggressive than any of the Laker bigs (though not a true form of measurement as Abe Vigoda has better post moves than Kwame Brown).
Stuck in Clipper Coach Mike Dunleavy's doghouse, there was always a feeling that Weezie's game would blow up if he ever got the minutes. The guy has good handles and always looks to finish strong. However, with Elton Brand having an MVP season, Wilcox was nailed to the pine.
Everything changed with the trade to Seattle. Over the last nine games, Wilcox is averaging 13.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in roughly 30 minutes.
On Sunday, as Los Angeles closed to 115-112 on Kobe Bryant's two free throws with 1:24 left, Weezie threw down a monster dunk, posterizing Chris Mihm to seal the game for a five-point lead.
It was the perfect posterization! Not only was it a clutch dunk, but Weezie took out Mihm in the process. Mihm laid on the ground with his pride and his ankle injured (out indefinitely with a severely sprained ankle).
Weezie is a free agent this summer. Normally when there's a free agent pool thin on talent, average guys get overrated and overpaid (Brent Barry). NBA execs take note, Chris Wilcox is the real deal!
