Mavs at Clippers: Courtside Report

Once again I was fortunate enough to sit front row on the floor for an NBA contest. This time the red-hot Mavs were in town to face the slumping Clippers. The Mavs have really been clicking lately, even with Keith Van Horn and Marquis Daniels out with injuries. They have won their last four games by 20 (tonight), 27, 19, and 33 points.

The Clippers basically didn't show up for this one. They played no defense en route to allowing a 63 point first half by Dallas. The game was never in jeopardy in the second half, though the Clips did cut the lead to 13, prompting one of my friends to suggest a prop bet: Will the Clippers get the lead under 10 points? YES was +110, NO was -120. I said yes at the time, but was wrong as Dallas quickly was back up by 18. On the bright side, I was right on DAL +6 for the second half.

The only thing to do when the game was not at all competitive was to try to get some decent pictures or video. I got two decent video clips from my vantage point. The first is a great shot of a baseline dunk by Jerry Stackhouse, you can check it out here (1659.6K). The second is probably only funny to me and my friends, but it is basically us taunting Dirk Nowitzki for his ridiculous ringtone he recorded. It's just Dirk shooting a free throw and us yelling at him, but hey what else are you supposed to do when you're sitting that close and the game's a blowout? You can get it here (4216.2K).
