Lost in the shuffle of one of the greatest offensive performances, the Lakers' Laron Profit suffered a ruptured left Achilles' tendon. The back-up swingman will have surgery in the coming days and is done for the season.

You hate to see any player get injured (except for Devean George), but what makes this worse was that it happened during garbage time. Profit was playing 10-15 minutes a game, giving the Lakers athleticism and defense off the bench. Plus, the guy had the same size and build as Kobe. Even his number nine looked a little like Kobe's eight. The Kobe Decoy was earning minutes and learning the triangle.

Thanks to the brilliant moves by Mitch Kupchak, this Laker team is the least talented since the 1994 team. That's why losing the eighth best player on the team may hurt the Lakers. Their recent play (9-3 in December) has been a result of better defense and of Phil Jackson learning the proper roles of each player. Profit's injury means more minutes for Devean George, the worst Laker since Mark Madsen.
