I know you threw in Diop because the salaries match, but that then becomes a bad deal for Dallas. While the starting 5 looks awesome, they would have no big men off the bench (DJ Mbenga?! N..Please.) They need big bodies to throw at Duncan come playoff time, so you can't give up Diop.

Craig

I don't think Indiana would do the deal unless Dallas includes Diop. Also, before this season Diop was worthless. Who's to say he won't revert back. I understand the need for big bodies to "D" up Duncan, but Artest may be worth the gamble.

Chris

One of the better Artest trade scenarios I've seen thrown out there. Really well done.

And as far as big bodies to throw at Duncan, there's always a Dale Davis or random 7-footer to pick off the waiver wire/trade a second rounder for, especially since Cuban will eat the salary for another team if that's the need.

But as far as defending the Spurs go, the Mavs don't have anybody on the roster right now that could defend a healthy Manu. Artest serves that purpose.
