Wow, it looks like the Shaq-will-run-with-the-Suns honeymoon period is over. As the Big Slow was quoted in the Arizona Republic:
But I think we have to learn how to play with me inside in a slow-it-up game. Because once the playoffs start, they aren't really going to let us run all the time. We have to slow it up. So once they get real comfortable with the slow-it-up and passing it, then we'll be a dangerous team.
This is Shaq-ese for, "I'm tired of being blamed for all the losses! F*ck the fastbreak crap and feed the Big Fella down low!"
Magic, Lakers and Heat fans have all heard the "feed the dog" mantra before; I'm just shocked that he broke it out in less than a month. What happened to all the "I'll learn to play with them... don't worry about me" quotes? I thought Shaq was all about fitting with the Suns system rather than the other way around.
This is what happens when a fading superstar is being squarely blamed for the Suns demise. But as anyone who's watched the Shaq-ed Suns know: they're better with Marion than Stoudemire.
