The NBA Cares... as long as some corporation is drawing coinage from it.
Shawn Marion of the Phoenix Suns cuts the ribbon for the unveiling of the brand new Toyota Reading & Learning Center on April 29, 2007,at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix Tri-City/Thornwood Branch in Avondale, Arizona.
The Toyota Reading & Learning Center, eh? So did Shawn read a copy of Exxon's My Pet Goat as the Coca-Cola Children gathered around? Did they pass out Keebler's Cookies brought to you by Haier, the employers of fine prison labor? Did they sit Pechanga Casino Indian-style in a circle and drink Minute Made Lemonade courtesy of Blackwater USA?
Maybe it's the Santa Monica pinko-commie in me, but how is it charitable if some corporation is buying ad space on it? Does big business really need to write off charity work for the children in Phoenix? Can't it just be the Avondale Reading & Learning Center or the Shawn Marion Reading & Learning Center?
Hey NBA Cares... can't you find a better way to "raise money" and NOT have some corporation profit of it?
Smile kids and make sure the neato cameraman sees Toyota on your shirt.

is that steve nash holding the microphone?
