Wow! I predicted that the Miami Heat would mail in the season, I just had no idea they were shipping express overnight. Way to step up and "Bring the Heat!" on championship ring night.
After attending three different ring ceremonies myself, it's predictable that the Heat would have a slow start. The whole celebration is about bringing closure to the previous season, filling the night with nostalgia and pride.
What the ceremony also does is fire up the opponent. Mix in the fact that Miami is well on their way to mediocrity and you get last night's 108-66 blowout loss to Chicago.
The Heat set a record for the worst loss in NBA history for a defending champion on opening night. I guess Riley found "The Winner Within."
I kept waiting for D-Wade
to shoot 40 freethrows to rally the team, but Dick Bavetta wasn't reffing the game it just didn't happen.
Finally, it was great to see the Miami Heat fans back in regular season form, I missed all those empty seats. What... did they run out of white t-shirts to cover up all the seats?
