It's not even August and the evacuation is starting. One by one players are jumping ship because they have to wash their hair (ahem) have "minor surgery."
Just last Friday, Kobe Bryant "had minor surgery on his right knee Saturday and is highly unlikely to play for the United States in the world championships this sumer." Mix in the other excuses of Paul Pierce (elbow surgery) and J.J. Redick (because he sucks), and the writing is on the wall.
The NBA is all about trends, remember how everyone starting wearing tights after Kobe was dropping 61 on Dallas? Or most recently, you have Wade and Bosh copying LeBron's 3-year contract extension, nixing their original max deals.
Well the union of the NBA and Team USA is soooo 1992. It's no longer cool to win the gold for your country. Just like the summer of '04, I expect many other players to follow suit and "have surgery" or "family obligations" that will pull them from the '06 World Championships.
The upside to the players jumping ship on Team USA is the bullshit excuses that we'll see in their press release. Too bad J.R. Rider is not trying out for the team, we'd get, "DNP - Jail Time" as an excuse.

You know what? I'm going to be ashamed of our National team if they fail to win it all. The USA isn't really the best at anything anymore. Not soccer (futbol), not baseball...maybe football but who really cares about that?
The point is the USA needs to win to regain some of the dignity it has lost over the years. We should win this one because its the only sport where we have the advantage with the premiere players.I'm sure Germany or some other country will win. But the point is it could be prevented.

Sadly you only typed "flopping" twice. Maybe if your post had read "flopping flopping flopping flopping flopping flopping flopping...to infinity"...then it woulda been funny...despite the triteness.
