The NBA suspended Phoenix guard Raja Bell for Game Six on Thursday night. This adds to the growing drama in one the best first round series since the NBA expanded to a best-of-seven format in 2002-03. Time for some "quick hits" reaction to the suspension. This time Craig will lead off and Brett will respond:
Raja Bell suspended for one game. I think that's a fair punishment. Did you read Raja's quotes? Bell said, "I think he's a pompous, arrogant individual." (he may be right) Anyway, who does that help?
A. The Lakers because the Suns will go only 6 deep and have nobody to match up with Kobe.
B. The Suns because the team will rally ("circle the wagons") and catch an overconfidant Laker team off-guard)
Bell was the Suns third leading scorer in the regular season behind Marion and Nash, so it doesn't help the Suns. They will be motivated enough with it being a road elimination game. It does help the Lakers, because of the Kobe match-up, however the Lakers have been playing against the same players for 5 games and now will be exposed to a slightly different lineup which may throw them off a bit. I still say if the Lakers don't give the Suns open 3s, they'll win. Simple as that.
In the meantime, Raja will be spending Thursday night working on his website rajadiabell.com. BTW - just what the hell is the "dia" for?
